About Bee Balanced

Pollinator education and habitat conservation, rooted in community.

Our Story

It began with a question about bees.

In Sahuarita, Arizona, a request to relocate a colony facing extermination became the starting point for Bee Balanced. With the town’s approval, a question became a hands-on conservation project.

Bee rescue shaped our beginnings. It also prompted a broader question: how can we make the places we share more hospitable to pollinators?

Our next chapter brings education and habitat conservation together. We’re building toward opportunities for people to learn, participate, and care for pollinators close to home.

Bee Balanced is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Our Mission

Bee Balanced connects people with pollinators through education and habitat conservation. We help individuals, schools, and communities understand the wildlife around them and take practical steps to support it—from choosing native plants to creating places where pollinators can feed, nest, and thrive.

Our mission is to make pollinator conservation approachable, hopeful, and part of everyday life.

Our Goals

Make Pollinator Education Accessible

Help people understand pollinators, their role in local ecosystems, and practical ways to support them.

We aim to develop engaging educational materials and hands-on experiences for schools, home educators, and community groups. We also seek to help municipalities and neighborhood associations make informed decisions about planting and caring for shared spaces.

Create and Connect Pollinator Habitat

Encourage habitat that provides food, nesting places, and shelter for native bees and other pollinators.

Our focus is on locally appropriate native plants and spaces of many sizes—from home gardens and school grounds to community wildflower patches. We aim to develop projects that connect these spaces, while planning for the care they need to become established and flourish.

Build Community Participation

Make pollinator conservation something people can take part in close to home.

We seek to bring gardeners, educators, landowners, community organizations, and local governments together around practical projects. By sharing knowledge and creating opportunities to participate, we aim to help communities care for pollinator habitat over the long term.

We also encourage connection with nature as a way to support mental well-being.

Our Values

Respect for Living Systems

We value the connections among people, pollinators, and the wider ecosystems we share.

Knowledge Into Action

We make learning approachable and connect it with practical steps people can take.

Long-Term Care

We plan beyond the first planting, with thoughtful stewardship and future generations in mind.

Connection With Nature

We recognize that caring for our surroundings and caring for ourselves belong together.

Working Together

We welcome participation and build partnerships around shared goals.

Constructive Dialogue

We listen, exchange ideas, and seek common ground that leads to useful action.
